ANDREW (AJ) JACKSON
Andrew Jackson (professionally known as 'AJ"), is an African American film Director, Producer, Writer and Artist from Harlem in New York City, NY (USA). He is a member of the Directors Guild Of America (DGA).
Raised by his mother (after the untimely death of his father when he was only five), he stood largely on his own creativity and imagination, as he hails from a family of many luminaries in the Entertainment Industry. Beginning with the development of skills in the graphic arts (drawing and painting), he moved into honing his musical acumen as a keyboardist, composer, rap artist and music producer... performing with such iconic artists as EPMD and the Hit Squad.. before taking the next natural step into the inner workings of film production.
In 2014, his journey would lead him into film direction... beginning from the bottom, as a Production Assistant on multiple Television and Movie Sets, which ultimately empowered his admission into the DGA. There, he began to build his resume with projects such as "Still Alice" (starring Julian Moore), "Maggie's Plan" (starring Greta Gerwig), "Godfather Of Harlem" (starring Forrest Whitaker) and "Power: Book III: Raising Kanan" (starring Patina Miller).
This, in turn, would lead to his participation as 2nd Assistant Director on the Academy Award winning film, "Oppenheimer", which also garnered him a prestigious award from the DGA, as a member of Best Director Christopher Nolan's team.
However, not one to rest upon his laurels, Andrew continues to forge forward with award-winning productions from his own company, Two'Oh Nation Films, which include "Affliction" and "Red Night Special: Chapter One" (both winners at major Film Festivals).
As he prepares to complete the 2nd installment of his "Red Night Special" series ("Red Rising".., slated for release, later this year)... he steps into the brightest of futures and welcomes the World to join him on his continuing journey.
