Will Smith and Martin Lawrence’s Bad Boys: Ride or Die has received clearance to roll into China. The Sony Pictures film will hit Chinese cinemas on June 22, according to both the studio and local press reports in Beijing. The film opens theatrically in North America on June 7.
The new film is the fourth installment in the long-running Bad Boys franchise, following Bad Boys for Life (2020), which revived the movie series after a 17-year hiatus and was a worldwide hit with $426 million in total ticket revenue. Bad Boys for Life earned just $3 million in China, but it was released there amid the challenges of the pandemic.
Bad Boys 4 is helmed by Bad Boys for Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the Belgian duo who infamously had their $90 million Batgirl feature for Max shelved for a tax break by Warner Bros. Discovery in 2022.

Hollywood is reeling from the death of Al S. Ruddy, the Oscar-winning producer of such iconic films as The Godfather and Million Dollar Baby. Ruddy passed on May 25 at UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center after a brief illness. The multi-hyphenate filmmaker was 94.
“Al was truly one of the great Hollywood mavericks,” The Offer director Dexter Fletcher said in a statement. “One of the last Mohicans who created great movies which still influence and inspire to this day. From humble beginnings to the highest of Hollywood accolades. His was an incredible journey. Achieved through the sheer power of his determination, strong will, irrepressible energy and charm and a rarely matched love for the art of film.”
Fletcher’s Paramount+ miniseries The Offer chronicles the making of Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather. It stars Miles Teller as Ruddy and immortalizes the visionary producer’s meticulous work on the 1972 classic.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the fourth film in Sony’s action franchise starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, had its first public screenings Wednesday night, and the first reactions have already hit social media.
At a fan screening at AMC The Grove 14 in Los Angeles, Smith and Lawrence made a surprise appearance. There were also screenings in Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Miami, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
The plot to Bad Boys 4 is driven by corruption within the Miami Pd, with Captain Conrad Howard (Joe Pantoliano) accused of working with the drug cartels for years. Detectives Mike Lowrey (Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Lawrence) put together a team to clear Howard’s name but become outlaws in the process.
The cast also includes Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Paola Núñez, Eric Dane and Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd. Franchise regulars Joe Pantoliano as Captain Conrad Howard and John Salley as Fletcher also return.

With the next generation of video games, things are more aligned with the open-world genre than a linear narrative. The upcoming Tomb Raider and Resident Evil games could share the same fate. Popular titles like Call of Duty took the liberty to experiment by stepping outside their traditional approach. It turns out fans are comfortable with the linear storyline unless they are playing Warzone.
Capcom’s franchise switched their gameplay from third-person perspective (Tpp) to first-person perspective (Fpp) in 2017 with Resident Evil 7, which was the first full-length game to use their in-house engine. None of the Tr games has done anything like that, nor has it explored open-world concepts before. However, Rise of the Tomb Raider could be considered a symbiosis between an open-world and linear narrative.
Tomb Raider Being Open-World Doesn’t Sit Well with Fans
Lara from Tomb Raider was originally going to be a character named Fletcher.

Every filmmaker and actor, and literally every other person somehow related to the world of cinema is getting extremely nervous when the Oscars season comes around. While there are definitely several movies that are considered to be chosen as best pictures in advance, still the hope is something that can’t be taken away from anybody.
Winning an Academy Award is very prestigious and is literally the highest honor for work done in the movie industry. But can you imagine the happiness and overall excitement that an Oscar sweep can bring to a team?
Winning 5 major nominations is probably every creative team's dream, but there were only three films that managed to make the dream come true. Let's take a look at the movies that took home Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Screenplay all at once.

Suddenly emerging in the mid-1990’s as the main comedy icon, Jim Carrey proved to the whole world he is the genre’s genius. His Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask, and Dumb and Dumber definitely made a revolution back in 1994, bringing new comedy standards to the cinema industry.
Before delving into dramas, the actor starred in the 1997 comedy, where he delivered, presumably, his best performance at the time. Moreover, he solidified his status as an actor, entertaining the whole family on a different level, with the kids laughing at his expressive mimics, while the adults admired his ability to embody the craziest ones.
The movie’s plot revolves around the divorced lawyer Fletcher Reede, who built his entire career on lying, which also becomes the reason why his marriage failed and, more than that, why his young son Max gets more and more disappointed with him.

U.K. outfit Curzon — part of the Cohen Media Group — is set to relaunch Artificial Eye, the arthouse distribution label that was established in 1976 and has been on hiatus for the last decade.
The label, first founded by film enthusiasts Andi and Pam Engel and part of the Curzon group since 2006, became renowned for releasing independent, foreign-language and arthouse title to U.K. audiences, including those by Béla Tarr, the Dardenne Brothers and Trần Anh Hùng. Its library boasts over 400 critically acclaimed films from directors including Wim Wenders, Michael Haneke and Claire Denis. Ruben Östlund’s “Force Majeure” was one of the last films released under the previous incarnation.
Led by managing director Louisa Dent, who has been with the company since 2008, Curzon has continued to release critically acclaimed films under the Curzon Film label — including Bong Joon Ho’s “Parasite,” the highest-grossing foreign-language film ever at the U.K.

The epic sequel to 2017’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is set to crank up the ambition, production quality, and emotion impact of the first game tenfold. Unlike the original, though, PS5 fans will miss out, as the sequel will only release on Xbox and PC.
The most notable aspect of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was its representation of psychosis, a mental illness afflicting protagonist Senua. Developer Ninja Theory carefully researched and consulted professionals in the medical field to be as accurate as possible, and they’ve taken it a step further with Hellblade 2.

The arrival of Hellblade 2 marks an important time in the gaming industry. The game is not just your typical single-player action adventure title. Instead, it dives into some of the more complicated aspects of mental health, using heavy themes as a medium for storytelling rather than ignoring them.
An important part of the game design process has been emphasizing Senua’s psychological state as a journey rather than her identity. Given how successful the first game was at handling these themes, Hellblade 2 is going to be equally as powerful, if not more.
Ninja Theory Has Been Extremely Careful With Creating Hellblade 2 Hellblade deals with many emotional themes that can feel heavy for players.

Michael Douglas, known for his effortless charm and leading roles in blockbusters, has always had a keen eye for compelling stories. However, even the most seasoned Hollywood veterans face hurdles sometimes. There was a period when a film he passionately championed faced an uphill battle.
Michael Douglas || Ant-Man
Studios, usually eager to back a proven talent, surprisingly avoided this project like a hot potato. Douglas was very interested in the project, believing it could be a cinematic force.

Earlier this week, we all experienced the first day of spring 2024. We're now fully in the season of rejuvenation, of tossing out the old and bringing in the new, and literally nothing -- not the most intense spring cleaning session, or even the most spectacular miracles of nature itself -- better represents that than the churn of films and TV shows leaving the Netflix streaming service as its rotating library is partially shaken out and replenished with a fresh round of titles.
We know what movies and shows are arriving in April, but what about the projects that are getting the boot and being scattered into the digital ether, potentially disappearing for a while or perhaps popping up on some other streaming service altogether? Thankfully, we have that information at our fingertips as well. And with just a few days left in the month, consider this a ticking clock reminder...

Even if you don’t know an El-Aurian from an Illyrian, even if you can’t tell the original Enterprise from the Enterprise-D, you’re probably familiar with one of the fundamental rules of Star Trek: redshirts always die.
Unlike many of the popular misconceptions about the series, the redshirt stereotype does have grounding in the show. Over the course of three seasons in The Original Series, 26 characters wearing red tunics died, as opposed to 15 wearing gold and blue combined. But that trend stopped with the Star Trek movies, and continued to fall away with The Next Generation and the spinoffs that followed.
Why, you ask? Because the costume colors signify a crewman’s role on their particular ship, and the color scheme changed between Tos and Tng.
Although some Trekkies hate to admit it, Star Trek didn’t really have much in the way of canon in its first few episodes.
