Stand back, Marvel Cinematic Universe. Be gone, DC Extended Universe. The power of The Conjuring Universe compels you!
It may astonish those who aren't horror fans or haven't been paying attention, but 2013's "The Conjuring" has not only spawned two direct sequels, but two entire spin-off film franchises that are still going strong: the "Annabelle" series and "The Nun" films. In fact, the latter's latest installment — oh-so-helpfully entitled "The Nun II" — is due to haunt theaters everywhere on September 8, 2023.
If you can't quite recall where and when we last saw the only married demonologist team in the tri-county area, Ed and Lorraine Warren, or if you're having trouble separating your La Lloronas from your Valaks, fear not! The following will not only get you up to speed with the ghouls, demons, and ghosts of The Conjuring Universe, but it will also lay out the tangled timeline of the entire series in chronological order.

Christina Hodson and Oren Uziel will co-write the next “Fast and Furious” movie with “Fast X” helmer Louis Leterrier returning to direct.
Last week, Variety exclusively revealed that Leterrier would direct the next installment of “Fast and Furious,” which serves as a companion film to “Fast X,” opening May 19. The 11th film in the Vin Diesel-starring franchise will mark Hodson and Uziel’s first official collaboration.
While news of the team up might come as a surprise to some, the two in-demand creatives are friends and share office space, which made the decision to work together practically inevitable.
Hodson is a British-born, Los Angeles-based, writer and producer, who is best known for writing Paramount’s 2018 “Transformers” prequel “Bumblebee” and writing and co-producing 2020’s “Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey” for Warner Bros. and DC Comics. Her next project is the highly anticipated “The Flash” movie, also for Warner Bros. and DC Comics.

Madam Secretary‘s Elizabeth McCord is president, and everything is right with the world.
Ok, well not everything. The United States has been hacked, and the legitimacy of Bess’ presidency is now being called into question, and Henry has an uncharacteristically semi-embarrassing moment on Stephen Colbert’s Late Show couch. But President McCord sends no unhinged tweets nor colludes with any foreign powers during the series’ Season 6 premiere, so I’m calling Elizabeth’s first hundred days in office a win. For My Soul.

Madam Secretary‘s Elizabeth McCord has undergone some huge changes since the last time we saw her — becoming President of the United States will do that to you. But do those transformations extend to the very title of her show?
In Sunday’s Season 6 premiere, the series’ title card first read “Madam Secretary,” as it has since the CBS drama’s very beginnings. But then the logo changed to read “Madam President,” a seemingly fitting adjustment to reflect the character’s new role as Commander in Chief.

Amy Farrington is set as a new series regular opposite Shemar Moore for Season 3 of CBS’ hit police drama series S.W.A.T.
Farrington will play Det. Lynch. Recommended by the Mayor as a tactical consultant to S.W.A.T., Lt. Lynch challenges the team’s normal strategies in the field. Not a S.W.A.T. officer, she is an experienced detective with impressive contacts all over Los Angeles.

Of the 26 scripted CBS TV series we tracked last year, the Swat TV show reboot ranked 14th in terms of its demo ratings and 17th when we sort by average total audience size. While those numbers were good enough to stave off the Television Vulture, the crime thriller was by no means a runaway hit. Now that it is back for a second season, can Hondo and company draw a larger audience and boost those Nielsen ratings, or will it fall further? Will Swat be cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned. *Status update below.

Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez stars in Miss Bala, the Catherine Hardwicke-directed English-language redo of Gerardo Naranjo’s hard-charging 2011 Spanish-language thriller. Columbia Pictures has set a February 1 release date for the film and took the wraps off the first trailer today.
Rodriguez, in the role Stephanie Sigman portrayed in the original, stars as an American recently arrived in Tijuana who is kidnapped by a cartel and drawn into the dangerous world of cross-border crime. She must use all of her cunning, inventiveness and strength she never knew she had to survive the ordeal. It’s a different kind of strength, to be sure, from what she exhibits on the CW’s flagship dramedy, but judging from this first look she is up to the task as she tightrope-walks between the gang and the feds, all with the singular goal of protecting her family.

“The Nun” is technically a prequel in the ever-expanding “Conjuring” film universe, telling something of an origin story for Valak, the super-scary demon nun of “The Conjuring 2.” But thanks to various teases, we know Valak is tied a little more deeply into all the movies surrounding “The Conjuring” than it might have seemed before.
The events of “The Nun” take place in 1952 in a Romanian convent that sees some spooky things happen. A miracle-hunting priest, Father Burke (Demián Bichir), and a young nun, Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga) are sent to investigate the place. Spoiler alert: Valak’s there, and things get pretty scary.

Updated: CBS has made back order decisions on two of its three remaining new fall series, giving a full-season pickup to drama S.W.A.T. after three airings and ordering three more episodes of Mark Feuerstein’s multi-camera comedy series 9Jkl.
Meanwhile, there is no decision yet on the fate of freshman drama Wisdom of the Crowd, which is in its eighth week on the air. The decision is being complicated by an investigation CBS recently launched into sexual harassment allegations against star Jeremy Piven. The call should come soon as Wisdom Of the Crowd is slated to wrap production on its 13-episode original order in mid-December. I hear the series had received an order for three additional scripts, so the writers room is open.
