NCIS star Michael Weatherly has been involved in a few subtle love storylines during his time on the show. But there was one subplot in particular that hit too close to home for the actor.

Weatherly’s Tony Dinozzo has had a few potential love interests in the show. One of his first and most notable onscreen partners was Scottie Thompson’s Jeanne Benoit.
The pair met under unique circumstances in season 4, with Dinozzo being undercover at the time and Benoit being the daughter of a notorious arms dealer. Dinozzo and Benoit would indulge in a passionate relationship before parting ways due to their clashing goals. Thompson’s Benoit would make her return to the series in season 5, with her final appearance being in season 13.

“Screen Talk: went live at the American Pavilion in Cannes this year and drew a lively crowd. Anne Thompson raved about one of the big-epic Hollywood titles playing out of competition, George Miller’s prequel “Furiosa” (Warner Bros.), starring Anya Taylor-Joy in the title role, which opens May 14, while both Thompson and cohost Ryan Lattanzio panned Kevin Costner’s old-fashioned three-hour Western “Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter One” (Warner Bros.).
They both agree that this vanity project makes mad genius Francis Coppola’s self-funded $120 million “Megalopolis” look brilliant by comparison. Even if the Competition title is “unhinged,” at least he’s treading new ground, unlike Costner, who has spent some $100 million so far for the first two chapters of a planned four (the second part releases August 16). Coppola still awaits a North American buyer.

Although the character has yet to find what he truly wants, he’s unarguably the coolest and most approachable of the older Bridgerton siblings. While the role is the biggest and most popular of Luke Thompson’s acting career, the charisma with which he plays the character has endeared him to viewers. Here

GOP Rep. Majorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) wrote in a social media post that the Biden Administration’s Justice Department tried to “assassinate” former President Donald Trump in a new social media post that shows an escalation in her use of radical language.
The post seems to have started with a statement Trump made on Truth Social, where he claimed without evidence that the Department of Justice “Authorized The FBI To Use Deadly (Lethal) Force” during the FBI’s raid of Mar-a-Lago in August 2022. The search found scores of boxes of classified documents illegally stored at the residence.
Greene went with the former president’s baseless accusation.

There will be no second season for The Spencer Sisters. CTV has opted not to pick up a second season of the Canadian drama series starring Lea Thompson and Stacey Farber.
A rep for Canada’s CTV Television Network confirmed to Deadline that “a second season of The Spencer Sisters has not been picked up at this time.”
The CW had picked up the first season of the series in 2023, which finished airing in December.
The Spencer Sisters followed a mother and daughter duo who team up to start a private detective agency. It pairs mystery novelist Victoria Spencer (Thompson) and her daughter Darby Spencer (Farber) who are mistaken as sisters as they tackle puzzling cases.
It also starred Thomas Antony Olajide, Edward Ruttle, Husein Madhavji, Ayesha Mansur Gonsalves, Rodrigo Massa, Kaitlyn Leeb and Adam Hurtig.

Back in 2022, we got word that Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi and frequent collaborator Jemaine Clement were in the process of developing a reimagining of Terry Gilliam's '80s sci-fi classic Time Bandits for Apple TV+ with Friends alum Lisa Kudrow set to star.
Now, we finally have a first look at the series thanks to EW's summer TV preview.
Kudrow will lead a cast that also includes Kal-El Tuck (Unseeing Evil), Charlyne Yi (Knocked Up), Tadhg Murphy (Conversations With Friends), Roger Jean Nsengiyumva (You Don’t Know Me), Rune Temte (Eddie the Eagle), Kiera Thompson (Martyrs Lane) and Rachel House (Heartbreak High).
Though specific plot details are still under wraps, the series is described as "a comedic journey through time and space with a ragtag group of thieves and their newest recruit: an eleven-year-old history nerd."

Talking to Kevin Costner after the Cannes premiere of “Horizon: An American Saga,” IndieWire’s Anne Thompson asked the filmmaker if he thought he could improve on Taylor Sheridan’s “Yellowstone.” Costner starred as John Dutton for five seasons; he is unmentioned in the press release for the sixth, which just began production.
“No, of course not,” he said.
However, Costner noted, it could be the other way around: During the second season of “Yellowstone” in 2019, he said, Sheridan was looking for writers. He and Baird sent him the “Horizon” script. Thompson noted that both “1883” and “Horizon” share a wagon train story.
“So I don’t know if there’s any duplications there,” Costner said. “Whether he borrowed something, only he’d have to admit to.” (Reps for Sheridan did not respond to multiple requests for comment.)
Vague accusations of “borrowing” aren’t new to “Yellowstone.” It’s a popular topic on fan sites,...

Undoubtedly, Sister Wives stars Aspyn Brown and her husband, Mitchell Thompson, keep a fairly low profile most of the time. They have opted not to show all the ins and outs of their lives on the reality show. While they take part in many of the family functions, they keep a large portion of their lives private. However, Mitch recently showed a very extroverted side of himself. In fact, he showed a lot of himself as he stripped down and appeared to be ready to rumble.
Sister Wives Fans Seemingly Approve Of Aspyn’s Choice
While the entire Brown family has been feeling the pain of losing Garrison Brown, they are each finding ways to move forward without him here on earth. But in many ways, it makes it even more valuable that Aspyn has a companion like Mitch Thompson to help her through the tough days and celebrate the good times along the way.

There are a plenty of longtime Saturday Night cast members, yet there were no big exits — or hints of departures — on tonight’s Season 49 finale of the venerable NBC late-night program.
No SNL veterans were tearing up at the end of their sketches like Kate McKinnon did in the 2022 finale, it was all smiles and fist bumps at the curtain call, and, after another brutal joke swap, Colin Jost and Michael Che wrapped their 10th season together on Weekend Update by wishing everyone a great summer.
This was to be expected, given that no one from this year’s 17-strong troupe would willingly miss next year’s big celebrations – The Big 50.
Host Jake Gyllenhaal set the stage for what is to come in his opening monologue, noting that the finale was “the last episode before the big anniversary season.”

Ever since Susanna saved Kat’s life on Hallmark Channel’s The Way Home, the two women have shared a strong connection — but is it strictly platonic?
The pair first met when Kat (played by Chyler Leigh) time-traveled to 1814 in search of her Mia younger brother Jacob and a “healer” — whom Kat later learned was Jacob’s fiancée — took care of her after she was shot. As the second season progressed, Kat and Susanna (Watson Rose) formed a friendship of their own, full of respect and admiration for each other. Not long after his separation from Priscilla Presley, Elvis Presley met Linda Thompson. Within moments of meeting her, Elvis made his interest clear, even calling her in the early hours of the morning following their first date. Thompson liked Elvis but was surprised when he sounded noticeably drunk on the phone with her. His speech would sound like this in future conversations.
Linda Thompson assumed Elvis had been drinking on the night they met
Thompson first met Elvis at the Memphian Theater in 1972. Bill Browder, a record promoter, believed the two would get along and invited Thompson to meet the singer. He was right. Elvis and Thompson spent hours talking and she didn’t leave the theater until four in the morning. When she got home, Elvis even called her.
“He said, ‘Can I speak to Linda?’ And [my aunt] said, ‘Certainly, just one moment, please,’ then screams, ‘Oh my God,’ and hands over the phone,...

Upfront week’s reliance on films isn’t actually new but it is increasingly bizarre, as evidenced by the top of Wednesday morning’s Warner Bros. Discovery presentation kicking off with sizzle that prioritized features Furiosa, Dune: Part Two and Wonka — when new episodes of the HBO and Max’s flagship Game of Thrones spinoff, House of the Dragon, are just weeks away.
But the opening frames proved to be relatively misleading, as the 90-minute (notably David Zaslav free) pitch to advertisers focused almost exclusively on … advertising. And on linear TV, at that. Film was referenced, of course, but as a vehicle to get Procter & Gamble’s Olay in on the Barbie phenomenon. Ad sales execs literally offered up James Gunn’s first project of the new DC era to the room full of media buyers, asking who wants sponsorship deals ahead of its planned 2025 release: “Do you want to be in Superman?...

Kj Dell’Antonia’s best-selling 2020 novel The Chicken Sisters is being adapted into a new original TV series at Hallmark Channel, TVLine has learned.
A family drama with southern charm and romance, the eight-episode Chicken Sisters series is set in the fictional town of Merinac, “where a generations-old rift between dueling fried chicken restaurants — Mimi’s and Frannie’s — has left the founders’ families fractured and the locals taking sides,” reads its official description. “When popular cooking competition show Kitchen Clash comes to town, this could be the recipe for ending this feud once and for all. But things are fixing...

So you didn’t make it to the home of the Rockettes? Here’s what you missed:
-NBCUniversal Chairman Mark Lazarus briefly took the stage to crow “while others have been spinning, we’ve spent the last year investing in our content, tech and overall experience.” “No one else can do what we do,” he added.

NBCUniversal showed major love for its film division, primarily the highly anticipated Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande-led “Wicked,” during its 2024 upfront presentation Monday in New York.
While not the traditional venue for touting upcoming movies — as this week is all about wooing Madison Avenue to shell out big bucks for prime ad placement on TV — with film chief-turned-overall content boss Donna Langley on stage for her first upfront, the move was a natural moment for synergy.
Langley teed up a new trailer for “Wicked,” a treat just for those attending the presentation at Radio City Music Hall, and promised it will drop wide later this week.
Upfronts 2024: Full Coverage @ Variety.Com
NBC will air “Wicked” behind-the-scenes special “Defying Gravity: The Curtain Rises on Wicked” on Nov. 25 ahead of the Nov. 27 release of the film. The special will then be available for streaming on Peacock. Langley also boasted about...

Maya Rudolph is back as host of NBC’s Saturday Night Live and she’s doing what she does best—imitating Queen Beyoncé.
In her best “Texas Hold Em” ensemble, Rudolph appeared in a sketch as the multi-Grammy Award-winning artist on her second visit to the popular YouTube chat series Hot Ones, where celebrities eat spicy hot wings while being interviewed. Her first time in a Hot Ones sketch was three years ago.
“Giddy up, let’s go,” she tells Sean Evans (Mikey Day) as she prepares to sample some of the spiciest sauces she’s ever had. After her first taste, she says, “That’s a tasty wing and it’s not that spicy. I’m from Texas, baby. Your girl likes it caliente.”
Famous last words because she literally goes cross-eyes after her second sauce taste. She struggles to confirm she’s doing alright and wants to carry on,...

It was all about mothers at the top of this week’s pre-Mother’s Day Saturday Night Live.
The variety show dispensed with its typical topical cold open for one that featured SNL castmembers sharing moments with their moms.
Kenan Thompson kicked off the show, appearing on the Studio 8H stage with his mom because, he said, “it’s “Mother’s Day in about 29 minutes,” which, she declared, meant there was still “plenty of time to buy a gift.”
“With so many upsetting stories in the world right now, we thought we’d take a break from a regular cold open and hear some heartwarming stories from our moms instead.”
Still Thompson’s mom said she wanted to see who would play Stormy Daniels in a cold open focused on the porn star’s testimony in former President Donald Trump’s criminal trial. That wasn’t the only reference to...

Maya Rudolph opened the Mother’s Day episode of “Saturday Night Live” with a tribute to mothers — in every sense of the term.
Hosting the sketch show’s penultimate episode of the season, Rudolph began her monologue by noting she’s a four-time mom herself. “But Maya, look — you’re not just a mom,” cast member Bowen Yang reminded her. “You’re mother,” invoking the term’s use in queer slang to describe powerful, aspirational women. “You were the first to slay the house down boots, queen!”
“Who me, mother?” Rudolph asked, feigning shock. “You’re right!” The host then launched into a propulsive dance number, strutting through Studio 8H — also known as “House of Rockefeller” — in a reflective bodysuit while delivering lyrics like “Oops, I made you dance / Remember in that movie when I pooped my pants?” Other lines played on the many meanings of “mother”: “Who’s...

Saturday Night Live skipped its traditional cold open and instead went with brief bits featuring cast members and their moms, in honor of Mother’s Day.
“As you know, it is Mother’s Day in about 29 minutes,” said Kenan Thompson.

“I told you mom, my children are my gift to you,” he responded.

Then, Thompson explained that “with so many upsetting stories in the world right now, we thought we would take a break from a regular cold open and hear some heartwarming stories from our moms instead.”

Though Elvis Presley did not want Priscilla Presley around him on tour, he welcomed Linda Thompson on the road with him. She traveled between cities with him and spent time with his band and entourage. All this time on tour gave her a chance to bond with these people, and soon, Thompson was in a secret relationship with Elvis’ piano player. She shared that she felt drawn to him because he was so different from Elvis.
Linda Thompson began a relationship with a member of Elvis’ band
Though Elvis wanted Thompson on tour with him, he spent many nights taking drugs or having in-depth talks about spirituality with his barber. Bored, Thompson began playing cards with members of Elvis’ band. Through these games, she grew close with piano player David Briggs. Before long, their friendship developed into an affair. Thompson liked that Briggs was markedly different from her superstar boyfriend.

One of our early favorites of 2024, Kelly O’Sullivan and Alex Thompson’s Saint Frances follow-up Ghostlight premiered at Sundance and stopped by SXSW before coming to theaters next month from IFC Films. Ahead of the June 14 theatrical release, the first trailer has now arrived.
Here’s the synopsis: “When melancholic construction worker Dan finds himself drifting from his wife and daughter, he discovers community and purpose in a local theater’s production of Romeo and Juliet. As the drama onstage starts to mirror his own life, he and his family are forced to confront a personal loss.”
John Fink said in his review, “A masterfully crafted work with nearly no false notes, Kelly O’Sullivan and Alex Thompson’s Ghostlight is a tender drama bearing profound moments of humor and small triumphs. The smartly constructed script by O’Sullivan buries the lede, revealing new narrative information with each layer as...

When Chicago-based filmmakers Kelly O’Sullivan and Alex Thompson first came across our radar with their charming “Saint Frances,” it was clear we were witnessing the birth of a powerhouse pair of indie filmmakers. Even in that first film, which marked Thompson’s feature directorial debut and that O’Sullivan both wrote and starred in, what would become their signature was obvious: a canny combination of heart and humor that go beyond basic loglines.
“Saint Frances” was eventually nominated for three Gotham Awards and the Indie Spirits’ vaunted John Cassavetes Award, and when chatting with IndieWire about their delightful gem, the pair even admitted that simple plotlines don’t quite do their works justice. “Saint Frances” comes with what seems like a downer of a description: “After an accidental pregnancy turned abortion, a deadbeat nanny finds an unlikely friendship with the 6-year-old she’s charged with protecting.” As the duo told...

Recording artist Dua Lipa just released her latest album this past week, so there's no better time for the pop star to pull double duty as the host and musical guest of "Saturday Night Live." Of course, her first time taking on the honor unfortunately comes after Ryan Gosling hosted a banger of an episode, packed with viral gems like the Beavis and Butt-Head sketch. But if your expectations were firmly in check, then you probably enjoyed this lukewarm, fairly amusing but not raucously hilarious episode of "SNL."
Thankfully, Dua Lipa turned out to be a solid host alongside her musical guest duties. She was game to jump into a variety of characters, didn't severely derail any sketches with subpar performances, and she was even willing to make jokes at her own expense during the monologue. As college campus protests ignite across the U.S. over the Israel-Palestine conflict, “SNL” weighed in with its cold open this week as Kenan Thompson played an incredulous parent of a Columbia University student.
Michael Longfellow acted as a reporter for Spectrum News New York 1 on “Community Affairs,” shining light on the ongoing protests throughout the country and their impact. Mikey Day, Heidi Gardner and Thompson were seated as parents weighing in on the state of the nation on college campuses. Longfellow’s character says, “College students have been protesting Israel’s actions in Gaza on campus across the nation. Day played a New School parent, Gardner played a Hunter College mom and Thompson played a Columbia University dad. Longfellow launched into his questions, asking the parents how they felt about the protests on campus.

Saturday Night Live‘s latest cold open centered on Columbia University’s handling of the pro-Palestinian protests on campus amid the Israel–Hamas war.
During the sketch, Mikey Day, Kenan Thompson and Heidi Gardner played concerned parents of students participating in the protests.
Last week, hundreds of demonstrators were arrested after the school’s president called the New York Police Department to help restore order on campus. Police cleared the university’s Hamilton Hall after protesters occupied the administration building earlier in the day.
After being asked their thoughts on the protests, Gardner initially responded, “It’s been tough. Now, I’m all for free speech, but I don’t understand what they think they’re accomplishing and that’s really putting a strain on me and my daughter’s relationship.”
Thompson later shared his thoughts: “Nothing makes me prouder than young people using their voices to fight for what they believe in.

Saturday Night Live tackled the college campus pro-Palestinian protests by taking aim at high education’s high tuition costs and questionable payoff.
Rather than tackle the Gaza issue itself, SNL instead went with the Pov of parents, featuring a spoof of a NY1 talk show roundtable of parents concerned about their children taking part in the demonstrations.
While two of the parents earnestly expressed worry over their kids but acknowledged their right to express themselves, Kenan Thompson played a Alphonso Roberts, a parent with a daughter at Columbia University, and a father who will have none of the disruption.
His daughter, he said, “better have her butt in class. Let me find out if she is in one of those damn tents instead of the dorm room I pay for.”
He added, “I am all in favor of you all’s kids protesting. My kids know better.”

On this week’s “Screen Talk,” co-hosts Ryan Lattanzio and Anne Thompson review new releases “The Fall Guy” (Universal), “Wildcat” (Oscilloscope), and “I Saw the TV Glow” (A24). While they both enjoyed David Leitch’s latest stunt-fest, starring Ryan Gosling as a movie stuntman and Emily Blunt as his director and ex-girlfriend, Thompson said the movie set in Sydney was well-mounted but a tad shallow and cartoony, while Lattanzio said it was not a challenging movie in any way, and that a series of showdowns and battles pile on at the end. Box office projections are all over the map, from $25-50 million. Upbeat word of mouth should carry the day.
Despite lukewarm Sundance reactions to Ethan Hawke’s “Wildcat” — which the actor-director-writer (“Blaze”) crafted specifically for his daughter, actress Maya Hawke, who plays Southern writer Flannery O’Connor — both Lattanzio and Thompson admired the movie,...

“Tarot” has the makings of a classic sleepover horror movie, fine-tuned for an astrology-obsessed Gen Z. When a group of friends accidentally read their horoscopes with the help of a cursed set of Tarot cards, scary symbols like “The Magician” and “The High Priestess” come to life and start haunting the group. Blending elements of classic supernatural slashers and the “Final Destination” movies, the film stars a game group of twentysomethings, including Harriet Slater, Jacob Batalon and Larsen Thompson.
Here, Thompson, who has also appeared in spooky projects such as the 2018 film “Bloodline” and the 2022 series “The Midnight Club,” reveals the tricks of the trade for surviving as an actor on the set of a horror film.
1) How to play dead
A lot of that, of course, is holding your breath. For me, the trick has always been “belly breathing.” Most of my work is leading up to when I need to hold my breath,...

There is a lot of hype surrounding this month’s The Fall Guy, and considering it’s a tribute to the world of cinematic stunt work, it’s no surprise that Tuesday’s Los Angeles premiere pulled through, with stuntmen jumping through glass and leaping off balconies to dazzle the crowd before the movie even started. But Ryan Gosling had his own moment, reprising his runaway rendition of Beavis (to Mikey Day’s Butt-Head), bringing the metalhead slackers to one place you’d never expect to see them.
Appearing at The Fall Guy’s premiere, Gosling and Day stepped out as the characters, dressed from enormous head to toe just as they were on Saturday Night Live last month – although it is still a little bothersome that their Beavis and Butt-Head are in shirts that say “Death Rock” and “Skull”, since Beavis would always rock a Metallica shirt and...

Ryan Gosling celebrated the Hollywood premiere of his new movie The Fall Guy by bringing back his viral Saturday Night Live character, who looks like Beavis. After walking the red carpet in a more traditional suit with co-star Emily Blunt, Gosling returned in costume alongside SNL cast member Mikey Day, who was dressed like Butt-Head.
The duo’s live-action versions of Beavis and Butt-Head first appeared in an SNL sketch that aired during the April 13 episode, which Gosling hosted. In the skit, Heidi Gardner played a news anchor interviewing...
