Actor Denzel Washington famously collaborated with Tom Hanks for the critically and commercially successful Philadelphia. Washington pulled from many sources to inspire his character, including from a few famous lawyers.

Washington put a lot of thought in his Philadelphia performance with Hanks. He played attorney Joe Miller, who’d end up defending Hanks’ character after the latter was fired for being gay and having AIDs.
The Oscar-winner did what he’s used to doing for movie roles and dove head first into research.
“The acting coach Stanislavsky talks about cutting 90 percent. So you do research, research, research, then you drop it and listen when you’re in the scene and know who you are,” Washington once told Cigar Aficionado. “You never know how it’s gonna come around. That’s why you go out there and find out.

Kris Jenner and Robert Kardashian were married for over a decade and welcomed four children together before their split. The divorce and Robert Kardashian’s death came years before the Kardashian family became a household name via a sex tape and eventually reality TV. Because of the timing, a great deal still isn’t known about Robert Kardashian. Did you know the famed attorney was married three times before his death?
Robert Kardashian met Kris Jenner when she was still a teen
Robert Kardashian was nearly 30 when he met Kris Jenner, then Kris Houghton. She was just 17. The couple’s relationship didn’t start off well. In fact, Jenner was already involved with someone else when she first hooked up with Kardashian.
Caught cheating, Jenner reportedly went all-in on Kardashian, but he broke up with her to return to his first love, Priscilla Presley. According to Jerry Oppenheimer, Author of The Kardashians: An American Drama,...

Kung Fu Fighting kind of overshadowed the career of its creator, Carl Douglas. In the Us he’s been known as a one-hit wonder, but in the UK he had at least two other songs manage to elevate him to a little more fame. Of course given that Kung Fu Fighting has been used so extensively being a one-hit wonder in the Us wasn’t such a bad thing. In fact the song is still being used in film and TV since it’s such a popular and highly adaptable song. Chances are if you watch a fight scene that has any Asian

O.J. Simpson "loves to be loved," his longtime friend, Ron Shipp, tells People. "He does. That guy just loves it. "He doesn’t like to look bad," he says about Simpson, who was acquitted in 1995 for the double murders of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend, Ron Goldman, and is now serving up to 33 years in prison for armed robbery and other crimes after trying to reclaim items he says belonged to him. The TV event of 2016 so far was surely FX's marvelous miniseries The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, which turned the Trial of the (last) Century into 10 fascinating, funny, tragic hours of drama that shed new light on a case that most of its viewers thought they already knew by heart. Given the phenomenon of The People v. O.J., you would think a five-part, 7.5-hour (10 with commercials) documentary on the same subject would be redundant. Who needs to spend even more time watching a retelling of Simpson's trial for murdering ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman? Instead, Espn's newest 30 for 30 film O.J. Simpson: Made in America(*) proves to not only be better than The People v. O.J. — and among the best things Espn has aired in its history — but a perfect complement to the FX show. Where People v. June 12 will mark the 22nd anniversary of the still-unsolved murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman, but the case has never been a hotter topic in Hollywood, in part due to its NFL Hall of Fame prime suspect. On Saturday, Espn’s “30 for 30” documentary series “O.J.: Made In America” will premiere on ABC, and TheWrap got an sneak peek at the first three hours of the mammoth seven-hour, 43 minute documentary during a special presentation at the Paley Center in Beverly Hills, California, last week. Life moves at warp speed these days. Almost overnight, cutting-edge in arts and technology becomes old-school.
It seems like only yesterday that the Hong Kong movies of Jackie Chan and John Woo were the big new flavor in action cinema, and laser disc was the medium of choice for upscale home theater. In reality, it’s more like yesteryear, and at that, nearly two decades of yesteryears.
How many of today’s kids under 20 would you have to ask before you found one who’s seen a Jackie Chan film? How many have even heard of laser disc, let alone loaded one of those unwieldy LP-sized platters into an equally clunky player?
These nostalgic if chilling thoughts occurred to me when, recently, I browsed through an old issue of “Mystery Scene” magazine and came across a review I’d written back in the day. The topic was Jackie Chan,...

There are good movies and there are bad movies. There are also movies that some people say are so bad that they're good. I hear that all the time. I've heard it since I was a kid. I think what they actually mean is that they're not good in the way most people might normally watch and judge a film; Excellent writing, incredible acting, masterful direction, etc.
The way I see it, there's more than one way to enjoy a film. Every movie doesn't have to be a five-star masterpiece like Gone with the Wind. You do not have to judge a film the way you would judge a mainstream...

The first time I played Sce London Studio’s Playstation Move dance offering, DanceStar Party, I was alone. In the privacy of my front room, with the blinds closed, and only the whirring of the Playstation’s fans to keep me company. And I hated it. “You just shake the controllers around a bit” I thought. “This isn’t a proper dance game” I thought. After twenty minutes I ejected the disk and tossed it aside. I decided I’d come back to it later for a cursory glance, then give it a poor review and move on.
And then over Christmas, and in the new year, I’ve had the opportunity to take the game to a fairer setting. When a game is called DanceStar Party, you should probably give it a try on its own terms before slating it, right? It’s a good job I did. In...

It's taken a little while to finish off, but it's here at last, Empire's Comic-Con megavideblogisode, a film starrier than the average galaxy. This effort features Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, Emma Stone, Colin Farrell, Guillermo del Toro, Nicolas Cage, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Hugh Jackman, Idris Elba, Bryan Cranston and Damon Lindelof. Phew! There's also a special sneak peek of Terrence Malick's new film (sort of), a dance number (sort of) and a reimagining of the Twilight: Breaking Dawn teaser trailer. Basically, all human life is here, as well as people dressed us as Batman, in a round-up of the Con that's as good as actually being there. In fact, better, because this way you don't have to live on those damn pretzels that are the only food for sale, and there's no risk of you spending your life savings on a limited edition Batman maquette. brightcove.

Marcus Brigstocke opened tonight’s Let’s dance For Comic Relief’s live show.

He didn’t dress as a woman, so has little chance of making the final – however Marcus is possibly one of the most rhythmic contestants the show has ever seen and we just loved his cheeky little smile!

Michael Jackson's father fears the King of Pop's doctor will be acquitted of manslaughter as the medic's preliminary hearing begins in Los Angeles. Joe Jackson is appalled by suggestions his son took his own life and administered the anesthetic that killed him in June 2009, but he worries that the claim by Dr. Conrad Murray's lawyers will be enough to plant doubt in the minds of the court officials.
The Jackson family patriarch tells X17.com his son had too much to live for to take his own life, "He had too much responsibility. He's a Jackson, he doesn't think like that." And Jackson insists there's more to the tragedy than a simple case of a doctor making a mistake, "One month before he died he told (his mother) Katherine they were going to kill him for his publishing catalog. Skadoosh! Given that I'm looking forward to Kung Fu Panda 2, the sequel to Dreamworks Animation's solid 2008 flick, I was happy to see that the studio finally posted a teaser of the film. While it doesn't show much (actually it barely shows anything besides a semi-funny stare down by Jack Black's Po), it does give you an excuse to hear Carl Douglas' classic "Kung Fu Fighting." Kung Fu Panda 2 hits theaters on May 27, 2011.

This ground-level report on gang life in the slums of Rio de Janeiro exploded with thrilling and terrible force. An electrifying piece of cinema packed full of visual invention and dazzling set-pieces, it owes a debt to Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas and audaciously pays it off. Though it unfolds at an exhilarating pace and crackles with danger, the film never allows itself to become seduced by the abundant violence of favela life. Instead, it keeps its lens trained on the attendant horrors, which mount up as the narrative jumps forward in time. What is most horrifying of all is how those caught up in the violence – victims and perpetrators alike – keep getting younger and younger.
The film begins in the relative innocence of the late 60s, soon after the City of God (a real-life Rio slum, ironically named) was constructed. Rocket (Alexandre Rodrigues) is an 11-year-old at the margins of gang life.

Dr. Conrad Murray stopped trying to revive Michael Jackson so he could hide drug vials, according to the bodyguard who called 911 on the day of the late superstar's death. The King of Pop suffered a fatal cardiac arrest in June 2009 and his personal physician is accused of administering the powerful anesthetic Propofol, which led to the singer's death.
He has pleaded not guilty to one count of involuntary manslaughter but security guard Alberto Alvarez alleges Murray stopped administering CPR on Jackson and told him to place drug vials into plastic bags, before putting them into another canvas bag, according to documents obtained by the Associated Press. Michael Jackson's doctor halted CPR on the dying pop star and delayed calling paramedics so he could collect drug vials at the scene, according to documents obtained by The Associated Press that shed new light on the singer's chaotic final moments. The explosive allegation that Dr. Conrad Murray may have tried to hide evidence is likely to be a focus as prosecutors move ahead with their involuntary manslaughter case against him.The account was given to investigators by Alberto Alvarez, Jackson's logistics director, who was summoned to the stricken star's side as he was dying on June 25. His statement and those from two other Jackson employees also obtained by the AP paint a grisly scene in Jackson's bedroom.Alvarez told investigators that he rushed to Jackson's room and saw the star lying in his bed, an IV attached to his leg. Jackson's mouth was agape, eyes open and there was no sign of life.

After being in the music industry for 50 years and causing many a pelvic thrust, British Indian composer Biddu has now switched to writing. He is now penning his autobiography and two novels.'I've come over (to India) basically to talk to Harper Collins, to discuss the little aspects of the promotion of my autobiography, which is coming out in January next year,' Biddu told Ians in a phone interview from Mumbai.'I've called it 'Made In India'. It's almost like an adventure story about my life and, when you read it, it's quite incredible and hard to believe. It's also humorous because I have written it in that style,' he added.Initially the sexagenarian was apprehensive about penning his autobiography.'I wanted to remain private. But the publishers said my life's been an adventure and no one knows about, not even my wife. So why don't I write one?...

Alberto - who alerted emergency services when Michael was discovered unconscious on June 25 - in particular is considered crucial to the investigation into establishing what happened after the star's doctor, Conrad Murray, injected him with the powerful anaesthetic Propofol.
