With a distinctive ability to seamlessly integrate various Western and World musical genres into his compositions, Nasser Sharaf brings a unique perspective and sensitivity to his scores for Film,Television, Interactive media, and Musical Theater.
Drawing from over 20 years of compositional experience and production, Nasser began his musical journey with piano lessons at the age of 8 in New York City where he spent his childhood. Immersed in Western classical and popular music at an early age helped to create the musical foundations that Nasser would later draw upon in his work. At the age of 10 his family moved to Amman, Jordan where his musical influences began extending further into classical and folkloric Middle Eastern music. It was during this period that Nasser took up the guitar and began experimenting with Eastern and Western musical styles - performing his own songs throughout Jordan's theaters and International Cultural festivals.
Returning to the United States to continue his musical education, Nasser attended the world renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts where he graduated in 1991 with Bachelor of Music Degree in Film scoring. Upon graduation from Berklee, he pursued further studies at Full Sail University in WInterpark, Florida earning a degree in Audio Production and Engineering.
In 1993 Nasser returned to Amman, Jordan where he co-founded Sharaf Music Productions. As chief composer his work has included local and international clients in the worlds of advertising, film, television, and theater, as well as record production for recording artists and composers.
In 2002 Nasser moved to Vancouver, British Columbia and continued work as a freelance composer where his work has been featured on Canadian Broadcast Corporation Radio and Television, Vancouver International Story festival, SONY Digital Entertainment, Comstrat Communications, and independent film and theater productions.
In 2008 Nasser was commissioned by the King Hussein Foundation in Jordan to compose the musical score for Petra Rocks - a musical World Fusion theatrical production celebrating the occasion of King Abdullah II's tenth anniversary on the throne and the induction of Jordan's ancient city of Petra's as one of the "New Seven Wonders of the World" in 2007. The musical was premiered in Amman, Jordan to sold out audiences in October 2009.
In addition to his work in film, television, and musical theater, Nasser has also composed music for interactive media and Video Games.
Nasser's latest musical collaboration was with Screenwriter and Director Bassel Ghandour on the feature film "The Alleys" which received it's world premier on August 2021 at the Locarno Film Festival in front of over five thousand attendees in the Piazza Grande - the largest outdoor movie theater in Europe.
As an effective collaborator, Nasser continues to push the creative boundaries of his music while always striving to enhance and serve the medium for which he is composing.
