Nathan Fillion thought Ant-Man was a low-rung superhero before he saw Paul Rudd carrying the role easily. He was surprised when Rudd made the character almost endearing to him. Earlier it was rumored that Fillion was considered for the Ant-Man role. The rumors started after Joss Whedon directed The Avengers, as he and the director had worked together on Firefly.

He who watches the watchmen must light the lantern. Damon Lindelof, who ran HBO’s adaptation of Watchmen, will now take charge of a Green Lantern series titled Lanterns. And he’s not the only major name attached.
As James Gunn posted on social media over the weekend: “Yes, it’s true. The Lanterns Dcu series is putting together a crack team of writers, based on a wonderful pilot script and bible by Chris Mundy, Tom King, and Damon Lindelof. A hearty welcome to Chris and @damonlindelof as they join the DC Studios family.”
Outside of Watchmen, Lindelof was of course a key contributor to Lost. As Gunn noted, Lanterns will also feature work by Ozark’s Chris Mundy and DC comics staple Tom King. Others that have been tied to the show include The Strain’s Justin Britt-Gibson, The Penguin’s Brennah Gibson and Animal Kingdom’s Vanessa Baden Kelly.

DC Studios' upcoming Green Lantern TV show, "Lanterns," has assembled its writer corps. Co-CEO James Gunn confirmed on Instagram today that the series' pilot script and show bible was written by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and DC Comics writer Tom King, who has been part of the DC Universe's creative team since the start.
"Lanterns" was first announced in January 2023, along with the rest of the "Gods and Monsters" slate, as it's been dubbed by Gunn and his fellow co-ceo, Peter Safran. It's a soft reboot for the DC Extended Universe, which fizzled out into a succession of box office bombs, and is currently taking a bit of a breather while Gunn and Safran assemble this massive new slate of films and TV shows. Gunn is also getting personally stuck in, writing and directing the upcoming "Superman" movie reboot and continuing his creative duties on "Peacemaker" for season 2.

If there's one thing we've learned in this social media age, it's that some people have a very good memory (meaning a once innocent comment can come back to haunt even the best of us).
Earlier today, it was confirmed that Max's Lanterns has tapped Chris Mundy, Tom King, and Damon Lindelof to pen the pilot and a "bible" for the long-awaited TV series. Now, James Gunn's one-time thoughts on the latter have been revealed in a resurfaced Facebook comment.
Way back on March 18, 2012, the DC Studios co-ceo and Superman director said, "Lindelof is close to Satan in my book because of the end of Lost. He's the Uri Gellar of storytellers, a total scam artist with no integrity whatsoever. And a liar."

Years after "The Sopranos" started what we consider the Peak TV era, there came a show that changed network TV forever: "Lost." It's a show that is as controversial as it is influential, one that helped bring serialization to mainstream TV, make the showrunner as recognizable among TV obsessives as the actors on screen, and delivered one of the most controversial endings in history (though it is a perfect send-off for the show).
Much like "Star Wars," it doesn't matter where you fall on the love/hate scale of "Lost," there is one thing all fans can agree on — the score remains consistently stellar throughout.
A big part of why "Lost" is still talked about so many years later is Michael Giacchino's score. There is a reason why Giacchino has played multiple concerts celebrating the music of the show since it ended in 2010, and why hundreds of people from...

There are very few comic book writers who have attained the status of ‘legendary’. Comic book enthusiasts unanimously agree one of them is Alan Moore, who took DC comics to its heights during the 80s and 90s. He revived a number of forgotten supernatural characters, especially through his run with Swamp Thing, such as Spectre, the Demon, the Phantom Stranger, Deadman, and introduced John Constantine.

Moore’s contribution to the comic book world is immense, and being an industry expert for decades, he knows all the ins and outs. He understands how times have changed, and how several concepts that worked before won’t work today.

The Star Trek franchise has already released several projects for the big and small screen over the years, amassing over $2 billion as per The Numbers. Among them, the 2013, Star Trek Into Darkness gained wide attention, particularly one scene featuring Alice Eve, which garnered quite a controversy at the time.

Alan Moore is a legend. The comics that he has created have become some of the most significant in DC Studios, having been behind iconic works like Batman: The Killing Joke, Night Olympics, and Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow. He has a reputation for creating works that are the perfect blend of literary genius and mainstream comics.
Justice League Unlimited
Despite all of the iconic works he created, the writer famously hated his works being adapted onto the screen. It did not matter if it was live-action, animation, or retellings; if they were using his comics as source material, he wanted nothing to do with it.
Suggested“It was all white people like me”: HBO Didn’t Want Damon Lindelof to Unmask One Watchmen Character That Alan Moore Didn’t Even Dare To
However, he did make one exception for an episode in the Dcau series, Justice League Unlimited.

J.J. Abrams' 2013 film "Star Trek Into Darkness" was a parallel universe retread of Nicholas Meyer's 1982 film "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan." In Abrams' movie, the central villain, Khan Noonien Singh, was played by Benedict Cumberbatch, while in Meyer's film, Khan was played by Ricardo Montalbán. Both films feature the death of Kirk and/or Spock, and both films feature the survivor yelling "Khaaaaan!" The plots of the films differ, however, as Khan remains the central villain of the 1982 film, while he was supplanted by a vengeful Admiral Marcus (Peter Weller) in "Into Darkness."
Both films also feature Dr. Carol Marcus, a paramour of Captain Kirk (Chris Pine in "Into Darkness" and William Shatner in "Wrath of Khan"). In "Star Trek Into Darkness," Dr. Marcus was played by Alice Eve, taking over for Bibi Besch in "Wrath of Khan." Because the characters in "Into Darkness" are...

Though the star still has a few more releases on the horizon, including John Krasinski’s If, one of the actor’s final TV appearances was the HBO show Watchmen. The series was lauded for reinventing the original comics and portraying the infamous Tulsa Massacre of 1921. Despite positive acclaim, the series was reclassified as a limited series, which reportedly hurt the veteran star.

Regina King starred in 2019’s Watchmen, an HBO limited series serving as a television continuation to the original DC comic series created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. While the show embodied the essence of its source material, it forged its own path in storytelling—one met with both criticism and acclaim.

Watchmen was praised extensively for handling racial prejudices, terror, and intergenerational trauma with a nuanced take on the subject matter. However, among a particular group of fans of the original comics, it proved divisive, as reflected by the audience score it boasts on Rotten Tomatoes.
When King stepped into play the role of Angela Abar, it apparently was challenging to get some of her friends on board with the idea, and the underlying theme of this heartbreaking reluctance stemmed from the intrinsic nature of the show—including its political allegories.

Welcome to a new era of "Star Wars," in more ways than one. Today's newly-released trailer for "The Acolyte" has been a long time coming, promising to delve into an older and more unknown period of history in the galaxy far, far away. Set over a century before the prequel movies during the epoch known as The High Republic, the upcoming Disney+ series will cover wholly new ground that fans have never seen before -- at least, those who haven't been keeping up with the various official tie-in novels released over the last few years. But filling in lore gaps in the canon isn't the only reason why this exciting new story should be on our radar, however. The talent involved in this series both in front of and behind the camera immediately sets it apart from any other to this point, although one name stands tall above the rest.

HBO’s Watchmen isn’t the first screen adaptation of DC Comics’ critically acclaimed graphics novel of the same title. But it’s widely considered the best addition to the franchise that began with a creative team of English writers—Alan Moore, Dave Gibbons, and John Higgins. Zack Snyder’s 2009 film adaptation was a decent interpretation of the comic book limited series praised for deconstructing the superhero genre. However, Damon Lindelof’s take on the classic tale has enjoyed more applause from fans and critics. The Lindelof-helmed superhero drama premiered on October 20, 2019, and ran for only nine episodes, which concluded on December 15,...

Michael Giacchino's score for the hit ABC series "Lost" is the greatest musical score in television history. A few other composers have come close in the years since the show went off the air, but for my money, Giacchino's masterful score not only perfectly matched the series' stunning visuals over six seasons, but it whisked the audience through rousing, suspenseful, romantic, heartbreaking, propulsive, and mysterious scenes with the types of memorable melodies and repeated leitmotifs that seem to have fallen out of favor in blockbuster filmmaking these days.
While some of the show's music has been available on vinyl before, the full score for season 1 has only recently been made available on that format for the very first time. Varabese Sarabande is selling the score for $38.00 as a 2-lp edition in a silver foil gatefold jacket featuring notes from co-creators J.J. Abrams, Damon Lindelof, and the maestro Michael Giacchino himself.

Following the release of ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ Dceu was officially concluded and Gunn’s and Safran’s Dcu officially took over as the primary cinematic universe for DC characters. Now we do know that plenty of projects are in development as a part of Chapter 1: Gods & Monsters, and one of the most notable ones is a live-action show focusing on Green Lanterns aptly titled ‘Lanterns.’
Geoff Johns originally had a script for a Green Lantern Corps film set in the Dceu, scheduled for release by the end of 2019. However, plans shifted when it was announced in April 2020 that Johns would produce a Green Lantern Corps series for HBO Max, suggesting a change in direction. Efforts have been made to distance the series from the CW’s Arrowverse, possibly to appeal to those disinterested in the Arrowverse’s lower-budget productions.

Although "The Leftovers" is often considered one of the best TV shows of all time, it's worth remembering that it did not get off on the right foot. It was 2014, after all, and people were still mad at showrunner Damon Lindelof for the "Lost" finale. Half the viewers in that first season were hate-watching it, and when the series turned out to be another character-driven series with plenty of unexplained weird stuff going on, they did not hesitate to declare Lindelof a hack fraud yet again.
To be fair to the haters, early season 1 of "The Leftovers" was probably the weakest section of the entire show. Every single character was miserable, perpetually angry at each other,...

Emmy winner and Oscar nominee Cord Jefferson will write and executive produce the upcoming Scarlett Johansson limited series, which serves as her first major television role.
The “American Fiction” filmmaker has boarded the Amazon Prime Video adaptation of John Katzenbach’s novel “Just Cause.” Additionally, acclaimed writer John Wells has joined the project, co-writing the series with Jefferson, and will also serve as an executive producer.
“Just Cause,” first published in 1992, tells the story of Matt Cowart, a Miami reporter. In this adaptation, Johansson will portray a female iteration of Cowart, named Madison “Madi” Cowart. The narrative follows Cowart after receiving a letter from a death row inmate claiming innocence. The ensuing investigation not only casts doubt on the inmate’s guilt but also uncovers other hidden horrors.
This project marks the second adaptation of “Just Cause,” the first being a 1995 film featuring Sean Connery, Blair Underwood, Laurence Fishburne, Ed Harris,...

Daisy Ridley is having quite the year so far. Her new movie, Sometimes I Think About Dying, released in theaters earlier this month and is receiving positive notes. Her indie neo-noir movie Magpie is set to premiere at the SXSW film festival in March. The biopic Young Woman and the Sea, in which she stars as Gertrude Ederle, the first woman to swim across the English Channel, was originally slated for a Disney+ release may instead get a bump up to theatrical. Oh, and she’s filming a new action-thriller called Cleaner directed by 007 franchise legend Martin Campbell.
In between all that, Ridley is also of course answering plenty of questions about her upcoming return to Star Wars. The actor recently teased that her solo movie, which is set 15 years after the Sequel Trilogy and will follow Rey as she works to build a new Jedi Order, is taking...

Warning: This article contains spoilers up to the latest episode of "True Detective: Night Country."
Right from the start, "True Detective: Night Country" came with almost sky-high expectations of everything it needed to live up to, both from within and without. Ever since season 1 of HBO's breakthrough 2014 series hit the ground running in one of the prestige network's most acclaimed and engrossing debuts ever, the ongoing fourth season faced all kinds of pressure to channel the best of the series' heyday. But as much as creator Issa López has managed to effectively bring things full circle, what about the show's more spiritual predecessors? In many ways, the first season's success in teasing out a central mystery that had most fans eager for a supernatural twist and introduced all sorts of unsettling mythology to obsess over hearkened back to another pop culture-defining phenomenon roughly ten years ahead of time -- one...
