HBO is developing a series based on the classic horror franchise “Hellraiser” with “Halloween” director David Gordon Green at the helm.
Deadline reports that Green, who received praise for his “Halloween” reboot in 2018 and is working on two sequels, will direct HBO’s “Hellraiser” pilot and several more initial episodes. The project will mark the small screen debut of the franchise’s iconic pincushion-headed monster and the rest of the Cenobites.
Green isn’t the only blockbuster veteran looking to tear HBO viewers’ souls apart in the new series; Mark Veheiden and Michael Dougherty will write the series and will executive produce alongside Green, Dan Farah, Roy Lee, Lawrence Kuppin, David Salzman, Eric Gardner, Danny McBride, Jody Hill, and Brandon James. Andrew Farah and Adam Salzman will co-executive produce.
Sources close to production confirmed the project to IndieWire.

HBO has such sights to show you... Last summer it was revealed that a Hellraiser TV series was in development with producers Roy Lee (It) and Dan Farah (Ready Player One) attached. While the series didn't have a network to call home then, it certainly does now, as Deadline reports that HBO has "made a deal" to create a Hellraiser series.
Deadline also reveals that David Gordon Green (2018's Halloween) will direct "the pilot and several more initial episodes" of the Hellraiser series, with Mark Verheiden and Michael Dougherty on board as writers for the new show.
Green, Verheiden, and Dougherty will also executive produce the series alongside Lee, Farah, Lawrence Kuppin, David Salzman, Rough House Pictures' Danny McBride, Jody Hill, and Brandon James, as well as Eric Gardner of Panacea Entertainment.
Rather than a remake, Deadline reports that the series will be an "...elevated continuation and expansion of the well-established Hellraiser mythology.

HBO is in the market to raise Hell.
The network is currently developing a series based on the “Hellraiser” film franchise, which in turn was based on Clive Barker’s novella “The Hellbound Heart,” Variety has confirmed.
The prospective series will not be a reboot of “Hellraiser,” but rather “an elevated continuation and expansion” of its mythology, according to sources with knowledge of the project.
Mark Verheiden and Michael Dougherty are writing the project, while David Gordon Green, whose credits include “Halloween” and whose longstanding relationship with HBO extends to “Eastbound & Down,” “Vice Principals” and “The Righteous Gemstones,” is attached to direct several episodes.
This new project is unrelated to the big screen “Hellraiser” revival from “Dark Knight” writer David S. Goyer, which was announced at Spyglass Media Group almost a year ago.
The “Hellraiser” film franchise spans 10 films and thirty-five years. Its antagonist, Pinhead, is considered one of...

With more and more film franchises being reimagined as TV series, it’s not surprising to learn that the classic horror franchise Hellraiser is going to also be developed as a series.
It producer Roy Lee and Ready Player One producer Dan Farah are teaming up to develop the series which centers around an evil hellish villain name Pinhead. They have teamed up with the rights holders of the property, Lawrence Kuppin, David Salzman and Eric Gardner, to make this happen.
According to Deadline, the intention is to “use the mythology established in the movie franchise and the Clive Barker novella The Hellbound Heart as a launch pad for a new series that could be anthology, or a more traditional narrative.”
The first movie told the story of a man “who inadvertently opens a portal to hell when he tinkers with a strange puzzle box he bought during a trip abroad.

We have such sights to show you. Or at least we will, when Hellraiser comes to TV.
Deadline has just announced that the classic Clive Barker horror property will be adapted as a television show. They’re reporting that producers Roy Lee (It) and Dan Farah (Ready Player One) have teamed up with rights holders Lawrence Kuppin, David Salzman and Eric Garden in an attempt to make the franchise the next big thing in horror TV.
The series began in Clive Barker’s disturbing 1986 novella The Hellbound Heart, which tells the tale of Frank Cotton, a hedonist seeking the ultimate erotic experience. To this end, he tracks down a puzzle box known as the Lemarchand Configuration. Solving this puzzle will apparently open a portal to a dimension populated by creatures who can deliver the ultimate sensual experience. Unfortunately for Cotton, though, what lies on the other side are the Cenobites,...
