- Access Sacramento's 21st annual "A Place Called Sacramento" Film Festival named 10 winning writers during a live televised and streamed virtual volunteer Cast and Crew Call Wednesday May 20 at 6pm. The announcement broadcast live on Access Sacramento revealed the names of the projects and writers who will produce their films over the summer, with an anticipated world premiere red carpet showcase for the 10 projects on Sat. Oct. 3, 2020 at Sacramento's historic Crest Theatre. (Subject to change based on governmental health restrictions at that time.) The Wed. May 20 6pm Live event was on Comcast or Consolidated Communications cable channel 17, AT&T U-verse Channel 14, streaming from Access Sacramento.org, or from the Access Sacramento Facebook Page, and within pcs.greenlit.app itself. With the writers now becoming producers, more than 200 volunteers logged in to create volunteer profiles in a new digital cast and crew call website platform pcs.greenlit.app. The website app was created for Access Sacramento by FilmFestO, a division of Sacramento-based Casting Calls America and its original SacCasting.com website. The writers come from all around the region with five from Sacramento , two from Cameron Park and others from Carmichael, Davis, Elk Grove and Rancho Cordova.
- Access Sacramento presents full televised coverage of the stage presentations and world premiere of 10 original 10-minute movies as part of the 20th annual "A Placed Called Sacramento" Film Festival. This red-carpet world premiere features 10 winning screenplays that were turned into movies featuring the writers, producers, directors, actors and crew from the Sacramento region. Nine specialty awards for acting and technical areas are presented. This program also honors Ron Cooper and Martin Anaya, the two founders of the festival, with Hall of Fame recognition. A special youth mini-festival grand prize winning short film is also featured.
